At this stage no uniform technology standard for recognizing and implementing DNT signals has been finalized. As such, we do not currently respond to DNT browser signals or any other mechanism that automatically communicates your choice not to be tracked online. If a standard for online tracking is adopted that we must follow in the future, we will inform you about that practice in a revised version of this privacy notice.

In Short: Yes, if you are a resident of California, you are granted specific rights regarding access to your personal information.

12. HHD mobile app — addition to the website privacy notice

This section explains how the Hurley's Hair Design mobile app, operated by Farrant-Hurley Ltd, uses information. It supplements our salon and website privacy notice.

App section updated: 12 October 2026.

Information stored on your device

The app stores your saved service favourites and downloaded copies of salon information on your device so that you can use them again, including when offline. The app does not upload your favourites to a salon account. You can remove favourites using the heart buttons or remove locally stored app data using your device settings (on iPhone, delete the app rather than offloading it). Your device's own backup settings may affect whether app data is backed up or restored.

Downloading salon information

The app connects to www.hurleyshd.co.uk and our website image hosting to download prices, team photographs, opening hours and other public salon information. These connections disclose technical information such as your IP address to the website and hosting providers as part of delivering the content. The website is hosted using Wix. The app does not need an account to browse salon information or save favourites.
The app also downloads published news and photographs from our separate HHD news service, hosted using OpenAI Sites and Cloudflare. These services receive technical connection information, such as IP addresses and request details, to deliver and protect the service. Their own privacy notices describe their handling of service and security records.

Optional news and offer notifications
You can choose to receive notifications on Android and iPhone about newly published salon news, features and offers. We use your consent to send these alerts. You can still read news and use the app without enabling alerts, and you can withdraw your consent at any time.
When you enable alerts, the app registers a device notification token with our news service. We store that token, registration and refresh dates, and delivery records such as the relevant post, delivery status, provider receipt and any delivery error. We use these records to send alerts, avoid duplicate alerts and troubleshoot delivery. The notification feature does not link these records to your name, email address or booking account, and it does not report whether you opened a notification.

We use Expo's push notification service with Google Firebase Cloud Messaging for Android and Apple Push Notification service (APNs) for iPhone to deliver alerts. These providers process notification or installation identifiers and the notification content needed for delivery, such as the post title, short message and post identifier. The Android app includes Firebase messaging software, which may also process installation identifiers for its delivery infrastructure. Connections to our news service and notification providers use HTTPS. Provider privacy information is available at https://expo.dev/privacy and https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy and https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/. These services may process information outside the United Kingdom; their privacy information explains their processing locations and international transfer arrangements.
Turning alerts off and notification record retention

Use "Turn off news alerts" in the app's News tab to withdraw your choice and request removal of your device registration. When that request reaches our server, we delete the registration and its associated notification delivery records. If your device is offline, the app retries the removal when it reconnects. You can also stop notifications immediately through your phone's notification settings. Changing phone settings alone does not immediately remove our stored registration; the app checks permission again when opened and attempts removal.

Our routine automated cleanup removes registrations that have not been refreshed by the app for 90 days, together with their associated delivery records. Other notification delivery records are removed during routine cleanup once they are more than 30 days old. These periods describe records in our news service; Expo, Google Firebase, Apple and our hosting providers have their own retention and deletion arrangements. Turning off HHD alerts does not necessarily delete all technical identifiers or records held by those providers.
The six-year retention period for archived salon records in our main privacy notice is separate from these notification records. For help with notification data or a privacy request, email enquiries@hurleyshd.co.uk.

Booking appointments

The booking button opens our SalonIQ booking portal in a browser. Information that you enter there is handled through the booking service, rather than stored in the app's favourites list. Please read the privacy information provided in the booking portal before entering personal information. Any booking-related account, payment or deletion request should be directed to the salon or the booking service as appropriate.

Calling, directions and sharing

Call us opens your phone's dialler with the salon telephone number; it does not place a call automatically. Directions opens a maps service with the salon address. Sharing your shortlist opens your device's sharing options, and you decide which app or person receives it. Those phone, maps and sharing services have their own privacy practices.

Advertising and tracking

The app does not include third-party advertising or behavioural analytics added by us. Our own news feed may include salon offers, and optional notifications may promote those offers as described above. The salon website, news hosting, notification providers, external booking portal, maps service and app store have their own privacy information and may process information when you use their services.
